my Clinique foundation is about to run out, and i was wondering if anyone had recommendations for other foundations that they love but aren't too expensive (like under $20).

Re: best foundation for best price?
Thu, September 1, 2005 - 1:07 AMI've had luck with the Body Shop for around $10.
You could head to your local bookstore and checkout a copy of the latest edition of "Don't Go to The Cosemetic Counter Without Me" by Paula Begoun. She reviews just about every line of cosmetics out there - drugstore and department store brands. She's pretty good at describing what she likes and why. The book also details the cosemetic by price range.
Good luck! -

Thu, September 1, 2005 - 12:15 PMyou guys are the best. i'm going to the bookstore this afternoon and checking it out (i never really trust the makeup reviews in the magazines b/c i'm always suspicious that they are getting freebies or paid off by the makeup companies, so the book sounds like a great resource) -

Re: best foundation for best price?
Sat, September 10, 2005 - 2:36 PMIt's an awesome resource. She goes over different cosemtic ingredients and what the do and don't do. She debunks the hype, but will also say if a product still has some merit. And she's a big advocate on cosemetic companies using effective sunscreen in their products.

Re: best foundation for best price?
Thu, December 1, 2005 - 12:35 PMI love the oil-free foundation from LORAC. It's $30 but I've found it lasts a lot longer because it's so sheer.

L'Oreal True Match also gets my vote. It's not as sheer as the one from LORAC, but it's a good $$ value

Re: best foundation for best price?
Fri, December 2, 2005 - 12:30 PMnot too heavy at all. i like a dewy finish, but i find that most sheer foundations i've tried (or tinted moisturers) don't really do much to smooth over slight imperfections or cover up redness. do you have any suggestions? -

Re: best foundation for best price?
Mon, February 27, 2006 - 10:57 PMI haven't tried Paula's Choice foundations, but I love her other stuff -- so it might be worth a try. She gives out tons of free samples if you ask for them. Definitely worth emailing to try a sample or two.
