some of B.E. brushes are nice... sephora actually has quite a few nice, inexpensive brushes.

Target has surprisingly good brushes -- for an excellent price! And you can get some really nice lining brushes from the art store -- get the ones for watercolor -- not acrylic.

Agree with checking out eBay for train cases. I also have one by Caboodles that I picked up at WalMart, a mid-sized silver one that's surprisingly sturdy & roomy. They have some larger ones now too. If you're not picky about the looks or just want something for backup storage (if you end up with wayyyy too much stuff like I do), fishing tackle boxes (sporting goods section) work wonderfully.

My favorite inexpensive brushes are Sonia Kashuk's at Target and Sephora's brand. I've gotten a few really nice brushes on eBay too, they just aren't 'brand' names. There's a cute set of pink ones I'm eyeing right now.

Tackle boxes and art supply cases make great makeup cases. They may not be as pretty to look at as most makeup cases, but they can hold lots of stuff in in various-sized compartments. Makeup artists often use the huge triple or quadrupal level fold-out tackle boxes -- but most of us gals don't usually have that much stuff to use on a regualr basis! I have a Caboodles that has lasted for years, and a clear mini drawer unit for products I don't use very often.

Tackle boxes are also super durable, if you're going to be toting you stuff around a lot.

I agree tackle boxes are great for storing and are super durable, but can be a pain to lug around. I bought a great tackle box at wal-mart that is canvas and it came with 5 or 6 storage boxes with it. I just use a couple of the boxes, and I still have room in the bag for extras (i.e. hair brush, comb, and portable curling iron).
          Hope that helps.

i got a large black caboodles train case at walgreens for $25. it's probably not as durable as the fancy-pants ones they sell at sephora and nordstrom, but if you're not a professional makeup artist hauling it around every day, i think it will hold up fine.

one thing to look at is how the drawers fold out - if they all fold out to one side, the whole case will tip over unless the contents in the main compartment are heavy enough to balance out the drawers. i got one where the drawers open out to both sides.

CASE: Target & Walmart have a FANTASTIC one that has compartments that fold out. Think mine was $30.

BRUSHES: go to your local craft/hobby/art store & buy brushes from the painting section (you can get really quality NATURAL bristle brushes for under $5 each...would recommend natural bristle brushes as you can wash them easier & they last longer...like years).
